For more than 40
years, the Marshall IGA has serviced the Marshall community
with the same goal at the forefront… top notch Customer
Service. It was first built by The JM Jones company in 1961.
A few years later Darrel & Rogene Harlow purchased the
store and expanded it to house its growing grocery enterprise.
They had the same motto of the store’s former owners
which again focused on customer satisfaction. To handle
the
great demand for quality goods and services and to maintain
customer loyalty, the Harlows decided to expand the facility
to 12,000 square feet in 1974. Putting the customer first
led to a successful business for several years. It wasn’t
until 1997 that the Harlows decided to sell their business
to Martin's IGA Plus of Effingham. Over the years, the Marshall
IGA has shared a very close relationship with Martin’s
IGA Plus of Effingham. The two have worked well as counterparts
for several years, maintaining a close working relationship,
and ultimately, sharing management as well as other resources.
